The difference

Most psychiatry makes you do the running around.

Testing in one office. A waitlist. Results weeks later. Then finding a prescriber who wants to start over from the beginning.

This practice is built the other way. One psychiatrist, one long appointment, and a plan you can actually act on — usually the same day. Dr. Sachs personally conducts every evaluation and every follow-up. Your care never gets handed to someone you have not met.

ADHD Evaluation

Think it might be ADHD? You can start and finish in the same place.

Adult ADHD evaluation has become an expensive maze. It does not have to be. The same $549 evaluation that covers anxiety or depression also covers a first-time ADHD assessment — in adults, adolescents and children.

Stimulant treatment is ordinary practice here. Some clinicians are reluctant to prescribe stimulant medication for ADHD at all. Dr. Sachs is not — where the evaluation supports it and it is the right treatment for you, he prescribes it and explains the reasoning, the monitoring and the alternatives.

One long appointment

90 to 100 minutes is enough time to take a real history instead of a checklist.

Assessment included

ADHD assessment is part of the evaluation when that is your concern — not a separate invoice.

Treatment, not a referral

If treatment is appropriate, it can begin with the physician who evaluated you.

What happens in an ADHD evaluation →

Psychiatric care

Well beyond ADHD.

Thoughtful outpatient psychiatry for children, adolescents and adults — with enough time in the room to understand what is actually going on.

ADHD

Evaluation and ongoing treatment across the lifespan.

Anxiety & panic

Clarifying what is driving it, and treating it properly.

Depression & mood

Diagnostic clarity and an individual treatment plan.

OCD

Psychiatric assessment and medication management.

Sleep difficulty

Where psychiatric and medication factors are involved.

Medication management

Ongoing physician follow-up, 20 minutes, $145.

Second opinions

A careful re-examination when a diagnosis or a medication regimen has never quite fit — including transfers of care from another prescriber.

Letters and documentation.

Established patients sometimes need written documentation — academic accommodation requests, workplace or disability paperwork, and similar letters. These are prepared when the clinical record supports them.

Please note. A letter is a clinical document, not a product. Dr. Sachs writes what the evaluation and the treatment record actually support. Requesting or paying for an appointment does not guarantee a letter, a specific diagnosis, or a particular accommodation.

Fees for documentation depend on what is required, and are always quoted before any work begins. Text 757-219-2753.

Academic

Accommodation documentation for schools, universities and testing bodies.

Workplace

Employer and disability documentation where the record supports it.

Prior authorization

Insurer paperwork related to medication prescribed in this practice.

Coordination

Communication with your therapist or primary care physician, with your consent.

Common questions

Before you book.

No. This is a cash-pay practice and payment is by credit card at the time of service. Many patients submit a receipt to their insurer for out-of-network reimbursement; whether you are reimbursed is between you and your plan.

All visits are by secure video. You may be located anywhere in Virginia or North Carolina at the time of your appointment, because those are the states where Dr. Sachs is licensed.

Most new patients are offered an appointment within one to two weeks.

That depends entirely on what the evaluation finds. An appointment is not a guarantee of any particular diagnosis, medication, or letter. Dr. Sachs makes recommendations based on an independent clinical assessment and will explain his reasoning to you directly.

A lower-commitment first step

Not sure yet? Start with ten free minutes.

A $549 evaluation is a real decision, and you should not have to make it blind.

Dr. Sachs offers a complimentary 10-minute consultation so you can ask whatever you need to ask — how he works, whether this practice fits your situation, what the evaluation actually involves — before anyone books anything. There is no charge and no obligation.

No charge

Ten minutes, free, with the physician himself — not an intake coordinator.

No obligation

Ask your questions and decide afterwards. Nothing is booked in the call.
